Kids Basketball Camp By Eli Edwards, working senior I take part in an inner camp activity of basketball (NBA). I am one of the four captains of the four teams. We all play each other two times of the course of the summer. This activity brings the camp together. Campers play this activity if they are good at the sport or not. Everyone plays and we have fun through wins and losses. If you miss a shot, so what, you’ll try again. The camp cheers and plays hard. In the end, we all win. Summer Basketball Camp By Paul Schneider, cabin 12 Basketball 13-U is during period one on “A” days and “B” days. In this class, we do many drills to help improve our basketball skills. For example, we do full court lay-up drills. This helps you improve your shots from everywhere on the court. We also play knock-out. This is a fun way to practice your free throws and mid-range jumpers. Also, in this class, we scrimmage. This helps us practice our skills at everything and we learn how to play our best position. Basketball 13-U is one of the best classes you can take if you like basketball. Basketball Kids Camp By Bryan Henrick and Alex Piperis Of all the sports played at Camp Shohola, basketball is the most popular. So far, the 13-Under basketball team has started off with a great record of 2-0, both games coming ‘down to the wire’. Bryan Henrick and Frankie Spellman, both new additions to the team, have helped the other veterans, Alex Piperis and Marshall Rader, excel this year. Thanks to great coaching by Ruben Ortiz and Jordan Holtzman-Constan , everyone that wanted to play had their opportunity. With upcoming games against Greeley and Pine Forest the 13-Under team hopes to take their winning score to 4-0. When they play these games, they will need to step up and show us that they can play ball. The 13-Under basketball team is looking forward to these games with an optimistic attitude and hopefully will come out winning. Kids Camp Basketball By Frankie Spellman Basketball is one of the most popular sports at Shohola. Our under-13 basketball team is undefeated so far, due to the fact that our coach taught us team work and how the game is all about fun. Here at Shohola every one plays and gets better, even those who haven’t played before, mostly because of the drills. This has been a good summer just because of basketball. Basketball Camp for Kids By Danny Pollack Cabin 4 Here at Shohola, my favorite activity is basketball. When I started basket ball at age two, I would always get airballs. Now with a lot of time from Shohola's counselors and helpful campers, I make almost every shot., and I still get better after each game. Now, I play with the green and white colors of Shohola in intramural basketball. Last year, I won a championship in Arlington, VA with Marshall, Conner, Billy, Ben, and Tom. Also, we won the Pike County tournament, and I'm sure we will win it again this year. Youth Basketball Camps By: Drew "Hebrew Hammer" Levan Although Camp Shohola has many sports for its campers it seems that basketball has always been at the top of the list. There are 4 classes offered of basketball and for all of them there are people signed up. Even when the kids are not in class they always find their way to the court. There is really a time when someone is not playing basketball, well except in meal times. In addition there is also the NBA which is the basketball league offered in camp for kids in upper camp. This allows kids to play competitively and in organized games in the evening. The final always prove to be dramatic and tends to draw people’s attention. Youth Summer Basketball Camp By Mike Pretat Working Senior One of my favorite activities at Camp Shohola is 15-under basketball. This class is on second period A days. It is run by counselors Sage and Abdullah. This class consists of a variety of drills followed by a scrimmage against other classmates. This class is assisted by Joel Segal, Steve Rudenstein, and Duncan Lamont. This cast of counselors provides intense competition for the campers included in the class. This activity gives kids a chance to sharpen up their basketball and have fun at the same time. Basketball Summer Camp for Kids By Darren Kasoff, Cabin 1 I love basketball because it is a great game to play with your friends. It does not matter if you win or lose. It matters if you're having fun. It is hard work playing basketball but you will get used to it. Once when you get used to it you will be playing better people, and that is the only way you will get better. If you are really good you could get in the NBA, but I don't think you are going in the NBA because you need to be really god at basketball to get to the NBA. I am Darren Kasoff, and this is my story. |
