Can you sense the excitement in the air as warmer weather is finally upon us?! At Camp Shohola we’re ready to welcome the best part of the year, and the start of summer camp at our facility in Pennsylvania! We hope your plans for summer camp are in place so your son is guaranteed his best summer ever! Summer may sneak up on you before you know it. If you haven’t registered your son for summer camp, it’s still not too late, but we suggest you get on it soon before you miss out on all the memories.
Anticipating summer camp may be a different experience depending on the child. A first time camper might be wondering if summer camp in a place like Pennsylvania will be a fun experience. They might wonder if they will make any friends. For him, there might be anxiety as well the feeling of looking forward to new possibilities. Just remember, encouragement will help your son a great deal. Try and help your son focus on what will make his experience successful and remind him of his inner strengths and resources. Sometimes it’s helpful to ask about what he might think a worse case scenario would be, and then suggest solutions that would help him to have a successful time away from home.
For returning campers, the anticipation is to return to the same or better experience as last year. All campers need to realize that cooperation, listening and being respectful of others, are things that will help make their summer a good one. We encourage campers to extend themselves and be friendly to each other, especially to the new campers. We like to remind everyone that our counselors are there to support and encourage campers as well.
If your son is looking forward to his best summer, make sure to register him for summer camp. At Camp Shohola, we want to avoid the ordeal of having to turn away any campers. Use the registration form on our website. It only takes a few minutes to fill out.
