Why New York Families Choose Camp Shohola

  • Close to the city, far from screens. Camp is about 90 miles from New York City, and campers unplug from technology for the summer.
  • Your son builds his own schedule. Each camper picks 10 activities from more than 40 options. Swimming is the only required activity. See a typical day at camp.
  • Small enough to know every boy. With about 120–150 campers and 80 staff, Shohola is big enough for a full program but small enough to get to know your son personally.
  • Three generations of family leadership. Director Duncan Barger has run Shohola since 2002; his grandfather bought the camp in 1943.
  • Meet us in New York. Our directors visit the greater NYC area a few times a year for one-on-one family appointments. Meet the Directors.
